Requirement: Android 8 or later.

Android TV / Google TV

  1. Install the Downloader app from the Play Store.
  2. Settings → Device Preferences → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources: allow Downloader.
  3. Open Downloader, type tinyurl.com/moonrise-tv in the address field and press Go.
  4. When the download finishes choose Install, then Open.

Fire TV

  1. On the home screen use Find → Search to find and install Downloader.
  2. Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps → turn on Downloader.
  3. In Downloader enter tinyurl.com/moonrise-tv, download and choose Install.
  4. You can delete the APK file afterwards; the app stays installed.

If Developer options is missing: go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and press the device name seven times.

Formuler / Android box

  1. Settings → Security (or Personal → Security) → turn on Unknown sources.
  2. Open tinyurl.com/moonrise-tv with the box's browser or Downloader; alternatively copy the APK to a USB stick and open it with a file manager.
  3. Choose Install. Moonrise appears in the app list.

Warnings you may see during setup

Unknown sources permission

Android asks for a one-time permission for apps from outside the Play Store. You grant it to the app that opens the APK (Downloader, file manager).

Play Protect warning

If you see "App blocked" or "May be unsafe", choose More details → Install anyway.

After installing

Open the app, note the device code in Settings → About and go to Manage my device to add your playlist.
